What is acidity?

Acidity is a highly desirable and pleasing characteristic of coffees complex flavor. It generally provides a bright, tangy, and lively sensation, contributing to the depth of flavor. Depending on the roast and origin, acidity can resemble the crispness of fruit, citrus, or wine.

What is body?

Body refers to  coffees textural quality, causing the perception of weight, richness, or fullness on the tongue. It would be the best way to describe the luscious, creamy, round, or syrupy quality that a high quality coffee imparts.

What are blends?

Good specialty coffee companies will highlight special blends. They might be exotic or unconventional names. Blends are unique combinations, a variety or mixture of two or more origin coffee beans that compliment each other when blended together.

What is a peaberry?

Approximately 1 in every 10 coffee beans is a peaberry. A peaberry is a rare, naturally occurring botanical anomaly. The average coffee cherry would normally contain two seeds, or beans. When they form as one whole bean, rather than two halves, you get a peaberry. These have a quality you can taste throughout the cup, imparting bright acidity, enhanced sweetness, and more complex flavors.

What is an espresso bean?

There is specific type of espresso bean. The term "espresso roast" or "espresso bean", refer to coffees that are selected and roasted specifically for brewing espresso. They are crafted to deliver a richer, deeper flavor. Espresso intended for milk based drinks will have a different taste criteria than espresso intended to be drunk straight. Each roaster may have a different blend or may even have a proprietary blend of their own.
